The vision
“molTERdb, from soil molecules to soil services”

The provision and maintenance of key soil services is largely dependent on small size-scale processes involving living and non-living soil organic matter.

Observing the general lack of molecular-level information in soil organic matter research, we propose to foster such studies by providing the biogeochemistry community with a new kind of computational platform.

The online platform ( consists of:
- a classical archiving part (i.e. Global SOM repository), where users submit their data and freely collect published datasets
- an interactive toolbox (i.e. Data mining toolbox) where users benefit from innovative online processing, statistical and modeling tools.

Beyond data sharing, molTERdb ultimately aims at advancing research on the links between molecular-level soil properties and landscape-scale soil services such as soil C sequestration.
